Medieval Mythological Beings ©
This design is inspired by mythological beings from medieval times, the literal representation of a small bestiary.
In medieval Europe, the existence of supernatural beings, which were in most cases remnants of paganism, was perfectly accepted. Some were inherited from the Greco-Roman world, while others came from peoples who were gradually introduced into the Christian world. The result was the compilation of legends and specialized bestiaries that described these creatures as if they were true encyclopedias.
Some illustrations are inspired by paintings such as The Lady and the Unicorn by Dominico Zampieri or Dragon Resting its Head on a Woman's Lap by R. Leinweber.
