Botanical Witch GIFT PRINT
It is estimated that between the 15th and 17th centuries, more than 80,000 people were executed in Europe and America, mainly women who were accused of practicing witchcraft.
Any woman who knew a little about medicine or how to handle plants was considered a witch for the sole reason that women were believed to be incapable of being intelligent. Therefore, a woman who knew about herbal medicine, nature and home remedies and who knew more than was supposed to, was considered a witch.
This is how an entire generation of women with extensive knowledge in various practices was eradicated, rendering invisible all the scientific contributions they made during this period.
So this design is our tribute to those women healers, midwives, herbalists and "WITCHES" 🌿
If you look closely, the front illustration is inspired by Botticelli's spring painting.
