Medieval Mythological Beings©

This design is inspired by mythological beings from medieval times, the literal representation of a small bestiary.

In medieval Europe, the existence of supernatural beings, which were in most cases remnants of paganism, was perfectly accepted.

Some were inherited from the Greco-Roman world, while others came from peoples who were gradually introduced into the Christian world. The result was the compilation of legends and specialized bestiaries that described these creatures as if they were real encyclopedias. Some illustrations are inspired by paintings such as

Circe©

This design is inspired by Circe, the Greek sorceress goddess. Intelligent and powerful, she had knowledge of witchcraft, herbalism and medicine. She also knew about maps and navigation, so she was able to show Odysseus the correct route to Ithaca. She possessed a wand with the ability to transform her enemies, or those who offended her, into animals. Over time, her myth was transformed and blurred. In later Christian opinion, Circe was an abominable witch who used her miraculous powers for evil purposes. The archetype of a predatory woman. We wanted to represent that first version of CIRCE, powerful and intelligent 🥰The illustrations are inspired by classic paintings by Waterhouse and Bouguereau.

NYX©

Primordial goddess of the night in Greek mythology, Nyx embodies the mysticism and beauty of the night sky. Every night she emerges from her cave within Tartarus, wearing a black cloak, she travels across the sky bringing darkness to the world and accompanied by the stars in her wake ✨

Symbols associated with Nyx are the moon, stars, and nocturnal creatures such as owls and bats 🦉🦇

As the goddess of the night, she embodies the unknown and the invisible, she is one of the oldest and most powerful deities in Greek mythology and one that even Zeus himself was afraid of.
