Medieval Mythological Beings© (Available Sunday 7)
In medieval Europe, the existence of supernatural beings, mostly remnants of paganism, was widely accepted. Some were a legacy of the Greco-Roman world, while others originated from the peoples gradually introduced to Christianity. The result was a compilation of legends and specialized bestiaries that described these creatures almost like encyclopedias.
Some illustrations are inspired by paintings such as The Lady and the Unicorn by Dominico Zampieri or Dragon Resting Its Head in a Woman's Lap by R. Leinweber.
